Bosch - Philmac (Bosch Automated Manufacturing Solutions)
When Bosch Automated Manufacturing Solutions partnered with Philmac in Adelaide, there was a specific anxiety that came with the announcement. Robotics replacing humans is a story people know how to react to. The actual story, though, was more interesting than that.
We went to South Australia to document what was really happening on the floor, and the narrative that emerged was one of redeployment, not replacement. Automation, in this case, was freeing staff up for more strategic, more human roles. The machines were doing the repetitive work. The people were doing more of what people are actually good at.
The documentary-style approach suited the material perfectly. Real interviews with real people on the ground, capturing both the Bosch and Philmac perspectives, gave the piece a sense of earned honesty that a polished corporate explainer couldn't achieve.
The result is a piece of corporate storytelling that humanises a high-tech industry. It builds social licence for Bosch's manufacturing solutions by letting the people closest to the process tell the story themselves.
Progress doesn't have to come at the expense of the workforce. This video makes that case, calmly and clearly, in a way that sticks.
