The launch of MECCA's flagship store on Bourke Street was a milestone moment for the brand, and the private staff event they chose to mark it, a flash-mob choir performance in collaboration with Pub Choir, was ambitious by any measure.

Three hundred voices in a massive, multi-level retail space. The acoustics of an open-plan environment. The need to capture both the sweeping scale of the choir and the intimate, individual joy of the participants at the same time.

The Balloon Tree team designed a multi-camera setup that could handle both requirements simultaneously. Wide angles for scale. Close-ups for the moments you actually remember. Expert audio synchronisation to ensure the sound worked with the space rather than against it.

Being present but invisible was essential. The goal was to document a genuine, spontaneous cultural experience without disrupting it, which meant navigating the luxe interiors of a flagship retail environment with the kind of quiet efficiency that the moment required.

The result is a powerful internal culture asset. A record of what it felt like to be part of something that big, that joyful, and that uniquely MECCA.
